Dublin

Heeey everybody!

Let me introduce myself first, I am Monique, 20 years old and I study International Business Administration. Therefore, It was a logical choice to go abroad. I decided to go Dublin for a number of reasons;
1. I would like to go to Europe, because I always find that mysteries can also be found close to home. 2. I wanted to go to a city where I have never been before. 3. Trinity College looks amazing!

I always wanted to study at such a beautiful university.
Now I have been here for a couple of days I can already notice some cultural differences.
I can summarise them in a few sentences:
- people who seem to have all the time of the world to answer your questions, whereas in the Netherlands we keep running
- supporters of two different gaelic football teams, just hanging around with each other talking about the game, love the peace and quiet.
- people who actually appreciate the smoking prohibition and therefore will think twice before smoking inside.
- extremely clean streats, no signs of litter everywhere.
- people just walking around in there sportsshirts and comficlothes everywhere.. (reminds me of my hometown, Helmond... Inside joke)
- people who are so open, they are actually looking for someone to talk too.
- and probably many more, however, I still need to discover those.

Today Dublin won in the semi-finals of the gaelic football match, which ofcourse,(although we only found out after the match had ended, that there even was a match) we need to celebrate this with some beers

  1. Hi Monique,

    What a great first post! It sounds like you have already found out quite a few interesting things about the Irish... Dublin is a great city with a great atmosphere, so I hope you will get to enjoy that to the fullest! Don't drink too many beers though. ;D

    Kind regards,
    Maaike
