Horrible: Exams are coming up. What to expect? Such a different country, such a different style of classes, so how are those exams going to be? No idea..just learn and see..
and yes I found out. Its different, waaaaaaaay different.
In Tilburg the university tries to repeat as often as possible we learn to prove everything scientifically, here you just print every word in your head: learn everything by hart and you will succeed. If not, you doomed.
politica de producto: write everything down you know from topic 2. can be 2 or more pages long..what to do? write everything down you can remember, but don't mix the topics!
liderazgo: same
recursos humanos: learn 12 chapters, over 250 pages, and know the smallest details.
this is not all, the most cultural shock point on making exams is the following:
you enter the class room and wait until the teacher starts talking. he divides the class in different themes and everyone tears a paper out of his notebook. What? Jep, you need to provide your own paper and write down the question the professor tells you to answer. So if someone asks if the exams are different, yes!

Trip! Santiago de Chile-Mendoza-Cordoba
How amazing is studying abroad: INDESCRIBABLE!
Attending courses, meeting interesting international people, partying and especially traveling!
I went with 4 friends on a 10-days trip: Santiago de Chile, Mendoza and Cordoba.
Summarized: Santiago de Chile, a nice, clean city with a lot of history. Mendoza THE wine district with uncountable vineyards (bodegas). Cordoba, the second biggest city of Argentina/the student city, where springbreak 2011 took place!

In the former blog I told you something about my university in general, in this blog I will tell you about my courses and all the differences I experience. The classes are 3 hours or 5 hours long, depending on the course. You really need a longer concentration curve here, because they only have 1 break for both. The 45 minutes in Tilburg don't sound that bad right now, right?;). Though, I really enjoy my courses here! They are really interesting and taught in such a different way!

Universidad del CEMA
Hola!
This blog is about my university here in Buenos Aires: Universidad del CEMA. I really like my university! It's well organized and it is a small university, really small! You may think, every university is well organized, right? I can tell you one thing: In South America well organized organizations/companies are rare. Personally, I am still a little amazed by the inefficiency I experience every day, not only during the classes, but even with grocery shopping or getting a statement of robbery at the police office. Though it is a great experience and it makes you respect the Netherlands and its policies more, at least for me thats the case.;)
About a month ago my introduction days started. I just got back from my trip to Salta and was looking forward to meet all the exchange students of my university. Up to that moment I already knew a lot of people from di Tella, but this was a new opportunity to meet other interesting people. UCEMA has 2 introduction days, on those days the university provide you with all the information necessary to study at UCEMA and you will get to know your fellow exchange students. You can get to know all names in one day, because there are only a few international students. This is really nice, because you will get to know all exchange students pretty well and it is possible to organize dinners and activities with all of them. I really like my fellow exchange students, 5 are from south-america and the others from europe. We organize dinners with different country themes every wednesday and do a lot of activities together. The first days I felt really stupid, because my Spanish isn't that advanced as the others, all the others have, or spanish as mother tongue, studied already for a semester in a Spanish-speaking country or speak Portuguese what is kind of the same. Luckily enough, everyone is very kind and it is the perfect way to learn spanish really quick.

First week in Buenos Aires
Hola a todos!
I am writing my first blog while I am already an "intercambio" student for more than 6 weeks. In the coming blogs I will try to give an impression of the exchange life which includes: studying in a foreign language, traveling through stunning nature, and living in one of the biggest city in the world while "exchanging" with people from all over the world.
Although it has already been a while, I will start from the beginning: Why did I choose to go to Buenos Aires? The answer to this question is actually very simple: I wanted to learn Spanish and I wanted to leave Europe. Since Buenos Aires is the biggest, most interesting, and most safe Spanish speaking city, outside of Spain, I decided to apply. Fortunately my fantastic exchange coordinator, Linda, accepted my application and that's where it all started.

Buenos Aires
Hola! I am Kathinka de Veer and this semester I have the one-in-a-life-time-opportunity to enjoy 'the student life' in Buenos Aires, the largest spanish speaking city in the world! I fell in love with this city because of the wonderful stories I heard. The stories are true: The city is huge(!), but if you are living here it feels like a cozy village at the coast (don't think Buenos Aires has beaches though;)). To me, Buenos Aires is also the perfect opportunity to learn speak and understand Spanish. You will never learn another language as fluently as when you are living in a country where the language is spoken. South America is on the other side of the world, which might be scary for some, but which for certain means a lot of new experiences and getting to know a whole different lifestyle/mentality. Believe me, its the most precious experience in life!
