Bien dia!
In the former blog I told you something about my university in general, in this blog I will tell you about my courses and all the differences I experience. The classes are 3 hours or 5 hours long, depending on the course. You really need a longer concentration curve here, because they only have 1 break for both. The 45 minutes in Tilburg don't sound that bad right now, right?;). Though, I really enjoy my courses here! They are really interesting and taught in such a different way!
Slides: too modern
Red line: not necessary
Books: as many as possible
Activity in class: as much as possible
So: different!
To start with Liderazgo, I love this course. The course is, not surprisingly, about leadership, what makes a leader a leader, what are the characteristics, how does society deal with leaders, analyzing leaders etc. The teacher is a very intriguing person, if he talks you will pay attention, because he has something to tell. His way of speaking is interesting and it keeps you focused. The professor informed us the first class that it is perfectly fine to take a range of 15 minutes regarding to the starting time of the class, if not, he certainly will. He also makes up the rules as he wants and when he wants to. So you can expect an exam when he likes to give an exam and no exam if he doesn't feel like giving an exam, although he said he will. Talking for 2 minutes or for 1 hour about a subject, depending on his mood during the class, it is all possible. Sounds maybe annoying, but if you follow the classes, you will learn a lot and you will not have any problems with his fickleness.
Topicos Avanzados en Finanzas. A take-home exam was the first word I got of the whole lecture, the professor doesn't speak that clear, but he is very kind and committed to exchange students. I was stunned by the phenomenon take-home exam, I still don't know what to expect.. but the course is about finance in a broad range, very interesting, you will learn a lot of theories , how they are developed, what the content is and how to use them, so really an elaboration on financial topics.
Politico de Productos. The first lessons we needed to do a lot of brainstorming, making mind maps and make concepts for new products, all to broaden everyones creativity. This class is by far the most different course from the courses at Tilburg University. You have time for all the assignments during the lessons and the time you are not working on an assignment the teacher is telling his story and you need to write down every word he says, there are no slides or any other way to find out what he just told. This professor is in contradiction to the other professors (or better said: all south american people) really punctual and really wants to learn you his expertise. He makes sure you will understand everything he tells and wants you to enjoy the course, and I do for sure!
Administraciones de Recursos Humanos: Human resource management learns you a lot about people, how people act in groups, at work, how do they respond etc. I think it is a really interesting course, with a nice and professional professor. She works herself in a big company and knows where she is talking about. The class is in the evening until 22.30, so that is pretty tough, but its perfect to end your week of classes on wednesday with this course and start the weekend with a party directly after it!
