Beautiful Edinburgh!

Here it is! My second blog and as promised I will tell you about my trip to the AMAZING city Edinburgh and the start of my classes.

The first two weeks here in Glasgow felt like an incredible vacation, meeting new people, partying all the time and shop till you drop. However, all of that came to an end when my classes started… Just kidding!

At the Common
I only take two courses here, because I take the two long-distance courses. This means that I have 4 hours of lecture every week and next week my tutorials will start, so in addition another 2 hours. Concluding, I have a lot of free time! My weekend starts on Friday and lasts till Monday! Unfortunately I need to give up some of my free time to study. The level of the courses is the same as in Tilburg. Even the lectures are quite the same, except that I have twice a week 1 hour lecture for each course. I am very glad that my course Marketing Communications fits perfectly to the course Decision Making in Marketing I took last year at Tilburg.
Every Wednesday there is the International Pub Night for all exchange students. We go to a pub, which is a different one every week, from 10 till 12 and afterwards we go to the club the Common till 3am. This is where I meet a lot of new people and have a fantastic time. Last week I got free entry because my roommate Christina and I were best dressed!

Adam Smith & St. Giles Cathedral

Two weeks ago I went to Edinburgh. What a beautiful city! Actually, you could say two beautiful cities. The medieval Old Town contrasts sharply with the Georgian splendor of New Town, making for a stunning experience – it’s no surprise it was declared a World Heritage Site.
It only took 40 minutes with the train and 11.40 pounds to go to Edinburgh. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city skyline. However, for a poor student like me, it was too expensive. We did a wander down the famous Royal Mile and stopped for a visit to the St. Giles Cathedral. It is renowned for its stained glass, Rieger organ and beautiful Thistle Chapel. Next to the St. Giles stands a statue of Adam Smith. And of course as a business student I needed to take a picture of that. After that we climbed the Salisbury Crags. It was a steep hill but it was worth it, we got rewarded with a stunning view of Edinburgh.

When we got back in Glasgow I had the feeling that we were back at home. Even though Edinburgh has much more beauty I wouldn’t trade it in for Glasgow. Glasgow is more modern and just perfect for a student life!

See u next time!
