Hey everyone !
So far I've only written about the Greek culture and the economic crisis. Now, let's talk about the fun part! The Erasmus life!
The ESN in Athens is very active and they rea
lly try to get all Erasmus students together. Just after my arrival was the introduction week. There were 2 activities each day, a cultural activity in the noon and a party in the night. I Think that approximately 75 Erasmus students atte
nded the introduction week. Also after the intro week they organized parties at least twice a week and the other days you just organize parties yourselves w
ith the friends you made during the intro week. Yes, the first weeks of your exchange are more like a holiday than an exchange :p. But you'll have to learn to drink ouzo ( if you never drank it before )because the prices of the alcohol you're used to drink are probably more expensive here than in Holland.
MYKONOOOOOOOS !
The ESN also organized a trip to party island Mykonos. For only €150 I went there for 4 days with 150 other Erasmus students. De price was inclusive hotel ( very nice one ), breakfast ( most of us didn't wake up on time though ) boat trip (
took 5 hours but it's awesome) transport from and to the harbor, and free drinks during the many drinking games! It was really amazing and you'll never get bored with 150 people surrounding you!
By the way, the weather here is in September and October still pretty good , with an average of 25 degrees! So there's enough son to go to the beach! From the centre of Athens, it's 30 to 50 minutes to the beach with public transport (depends on what beach you're going)
Of course, there are plenty of beautiful places to visit for sightseeing as well. But because public transport is on strike 2/3 days a week you can't do what you would like to do every day :(
