Vamos a la Playa ohohohoho

Madrid, what a city! It really starts to feel like home. Every time the university is finished it really feels like going home; something I did not expect in the beginning. It is how it is supposed to be.

Like every week there are some classes to attend. Sounds kinda boring, but they are actually getting better and better. Making homework is not always something I am looking forward to, but with this method totally different from the one at Tilburg University, you do understand the subject matter more quickly. I can so far only conclude that this only means that I have a real Christmas holiday. The first 3 days of the week went by very quickly.

Thursday I had a review test for Operations Management. What they call a test here: 20 multiple choice questions which come straight from the internet page of the author and some open questions which we practiced thoroughly. I thought it was quite easy, but when I got my grade back that was apparently not the case. I got a 5.5, where I am not happy with.
The exam for Organizational Economics I made fortunately better than the first one. This time I got a 7 and I was quite happy with it, especially when you know that I did not understand the subject matter that well. So that was a somewhat nice closing of the school day.
That afternoon me and Kelly enjoyed again in the still burning sun. Half October and still such an unbelievably fantastic weather, it is too good to be true.

This weekend promised to be one of the best weekend so far as Kelly and I went on a little trip to the city of Paella, Valencia. Our bus left at 7 a.m. at Estación Sur Mendez Álvaro, so we had to get up really, really early. We took the first metro over there and when we arrived there we still had to wait some time until the bus was ready to go. Man, those busses were luxurious. The seats looked like they were taken from a business class airplane, so we were ready to go. The trip took about 4 hours and when we arrived in Valencia, the first thing we noticed was that there were clouds up in the sky. We could not book a hostel at home as we both do not have a credit card, so the first thing we did was searching for one. We already had searched for some good ones on internet, so it did not take long until we found a good hostel, right in the middle of the historic centre.
When we were settled, we immediately started exploring the city. We had quickly seen the cathedral, churches, squares and gardens in Valencia, so we could not believe that this was everything.
The same thing with dinner; we only found a couple of restaurants open on a Friday, so we were really shocked. We found some good place though, but there had to be more.

The next day we found out that we only had seen the historic centre, not the new one. So we went to the new one and we concluded that that was even more beautiful. First we went to Mercado Central, which was 100 metres away from our hostel, Hostal Bisbal. Really cool to see so many food stalls in one big building. For lunch we bought tortilla there, which is egg with potatoes.
In the afternoon, we visited Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències. This is a cultural-scientific complex close to the river. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It suddenly looked like we were 50 years forth in time. The surreal buildings and the clear blue water made it look so unreal. The complex consists of 5 spectacular buildings, all surrounded by water. From the photos you can see how beautiful it is.

Sunday was our last day and therefore it had to be a great day. We enjoyed our ‘Spanish’ lunch at Pan and Company, where we ordered a bocadillo con pollo. The best had yet to come in Valencia; la playa! Madrid has none, so we definitely had to enjoy the beach in Valencia. It is as wide as the beach in Holland, so that was really nice. The weather that day was the best of the whole weekend so we were lucky. For sure the best day of the weekend; loved the relax atmosphere at the beach.
We had to take the bus back at 8.30 p.m., so we ate a bit early that night. When we drove back it really felt like going home.

Also it felt like going back to daily life, to reality. Something that could have stayed away for a few more days …
