Exploring

Last saturday me and my flatmates decided to explore Glasgow some more. Together with my Tsjech friend george, Canadian friend John and my Mexican friend Esteban we walked around Glasgow for the full day. There are a bunch of really nice places to visit in Glasgow. For you who do not plan to go on exchange to Glasgow, the city is still worth visiting as a city trip! It is very common to go to a pub around noon and have a beer and something to eat, so that is what we did. When we were sitting in a pub, some Gaelic dancers came in and a girl with a violin. All of a sudden they started to play music and dance Gaelic dances. It is really cool to see that traditions are a big part of the Scottish culture. At the end of the day we visited the Kelvin Grove museum and the University of Glasgow, which is pretty amazing.

We decided to have common dinners with the flatmates every week. Every week one of us will cook a traditional dish. This week Job from South-Carolina decided to make us grilled cheese beef sandwiches. And yes it is just a hamburger on a grilled cheese sandwich. Although it was pretty fatty, I still finished it. Last week George cooked us "hangmans strike", a traditional Tsjech dish which looked a bit like Goolash.

On Wednesday I went climbing with some new friends. The climbing facility was located in an old church which was pretty cool. Since I had never done it before it was a very fun experience. That night, just like any other Wednesdays, it was pub night again. This week we got to "The libertine", a pretty fancy pub if you ask me, however it was much to crowdie, so we decided to head to Mackie Mays, a very cool pub nearby. This week all my classes are running and as of next week my tutorials will as well. I find it still weird that lecturers come in with a huge pile of handouts. Studying at Strathclyde is a bit more like high school, since we get homework and stuff like that. It is pretty weird if you are used to the system in Tilburg.

Tonight it is one of my flatmates birthday. We are throwing him a surprise party and afterwards we well go out. This week weekend we are planning to see a Wiskey distillery! Thats it for now.
