time flies

A beautiful purple sky, view from my room.

It is already the 17th of November. Time really flies, it is rainy in Madrid but still not very cold compared to the Netherlands. However the Madrilène people seems to think different.
All the dogs here are dressed up in a nice suites to protect them for the 16 degrees. It’s very hilarious to see and I was almost doubting about buying a suite for my dog as well but I think he wouldn’t like it that much.

Meanwhile I have already my second 10, and really get into the rhythm of Uc3m. I have to say that I am glad when I have my relax schedule of Tilburg back but hey, It is not a half year holiday here in Madrid and it brought me a lot of structure. I don’t know if I got those 10’s because of this structure or because the tests here are or very hard and above all a bit vague, or a test is easy (as long as you studied for it.) For example I had a 10 and 0 for one course. I am really glad the zero doesn’t count since the worst grade of all your review test get deleted.

The studying part is maybe exactly the problem here in Spain. For example, when we get a date to deliver a part of our final project for Strategic management we always deliver in time. This in contrast to our Spanish colleagues. I noticed that the teacher says every class again that he only received two projects, ours and the one of the other exchange students. I spoke with one of my Spanish class mates and told him that the school system is so different in the Netherlands. He told me that I have to relax a bit more and don’t care to much about the rules since Spanish people do neither. Spanish people are a bit ‘relax’, the call this “manana, manana” which means tomorrow, tomorrow. When you didn’t finished yet your project on the deadline, just deliver it later and because everybody here does the same the teacher doesn’t take measures.

Monday we had classes again after our great weekend in Seville. Thursday we will have a difficult review test. A lot of econometrics and stuff which I never had before. We all did it very fast since our Spanish class mates have had econometrics last year.
Also we had to finish our Goldman Sachs project this week which means a case , a summary of the data and a presentation and Wednesday we had another case for Strategic management. I was already look forward to Thursday 12.30 when our classes finish and the weekend starts.

To get a bit fresh air after studying the whole day I go outside sometimes for a walk. It is really fun to just walk around a bit in this area because when you walk another direction you always see streets you have never been before and Madrid has a lot of little parks. Also I like to see that there are so many bars but in every bar there are always people. I sometimes have the feeling that Madrilène people are rarely at home. They are working from 8am till 21pm and when they are not at work they are in a bar.

Today we had the review test, I studied a lot for it but it was worth it because I think I did it really well. Only one problem, the teacher had a problem with making copies of the exam so we just got the first part of the test and the other part we will get Monday 
Monday we also have our presentation. Artem, Jasper and I put hours in this but I am so glad with the result. I did the analysis part and since I am doing fiscal economics I sometimes miss the math part in my study. Now I had to do all the correlation figures, scatterplots etc. and it sounds a bit weird but I really liked it.

Now I am going to enjoy my weekend ! For tonight I downloaded a movie I will buy a bottle of wine and some ships and finally rest a bit. Tomorrow we are going to eat with the our flatmates. Next week it would be a nice week again since the parents of Jasper are coming. Then we can prove our travel guide skills again.
Hasta Luego!
