BLOG 4
Last Monday we had a pub crawl. For the ones that do not know what a pub crawl is: You basically go to a lot of different bars in one evening, and at most of them you’ll get a discount or a free drink. In this case, we divided into groups of 5, and we went to five different bars. At most bars we could get a beer for around 30 crones (3.30 euros)! We considered this very cheap! Those prices were a lot better than we had experienced so far! One of the bars was a really retro bar, with these typical 80’s hits. Definitely worth visiting again! In the last bar we gathered with all the groups. There my friends and I stayed for a while and chatted around. It´s always a laugh when I tell them the place I was born is Weert (pronounce it in English and you’ll understand). It was definitely a good evening!

On the 6th of September we were supposed to go to the archipelago of Stockholm. The archipelago is the group of 14000 islands that lie approximately 30 minutes away from Stockholm, and are surrounded by beautiful nature. The ship we were going on was a very old beautiful sailing yacht. We were allowed to help the sailors on the boat, and that was very nice! However, for some reason we weren´t able to go to the archipelago. That is why we went there on Sunday. We were with a group of four, and just hanged around in/outside the boat. We also made a ridiculous amount of pictures of the beautiful scenery of the archipelago, and philosophized about living in Stockholm. It was a very relaxing afternoon.
I´ve also had my first Swedish course last week. An enormous amount of exchange students have signed up for these courses, so that is why the group is divided in two. I´m in the first group, consisting of approximately 300 people. We started with basic sentences, some very basic grammar and some of the relatively strange pronunciations the Swedish language knows. It is true that Swedish has a lot of ´eu´ and ´oo` sounds, and sometimes the sentences were quite hard to pronounce! However, I think it´s going to be great fun to try to learn some of the language.
Last Friday went to a career event in the Eriksson Globe. This is the biggest hemispherical building in the world where the most famous of bands have played, and huge events are held. The building is quite impressive! In the evening the outside of the globe has lights that differ depending on what kind of event there is going on inside. At the career event we got to talk to a lot of different companies, all originally from Sweden. It was fun to talk to them and get to know the companies, but I kind of felt out of place. I got the feeling most people there were actually people that are looking for jobs instead of students that just want information. We did get a lot of goodies at the event though! Apparently companies try to win you over with random stuff! At the globe you can also go on gondels on the side of the building. You can go al the way up, and there you´ll have one of the most beautiful views in Stockholm. You can literally look over entire Stockholm and even further! It was an incredible experience!
To conclude this blog I want to apologize for the serious lack of pictures in my blogs. However, this will be well compensated in the upcoming weeks, for then I will finally be able to put the pictures on my computer!
