my life in spain

18-9-2011

Every day I see them again. Blue skirts, Scottish diamonds, white polo’s and so on ; kids in school uniform. So cute to see. Not only kids from primary school but also high school kids.

Saturday the 10th I stayed at home to make homework even though it was 35 degrees outside and I were not really in the mood.

Sunday Jasper and I went to the finish of the Vuelta, the Spanish ‘Tour de France’. It was nice to see this, especially because we stood at the first raw and could see everything very well.
We also met two American travellers who were really nice! They gave us some tips for going to America. Jasper caught a bidon from one of the racers and I made some very good pictures.

Monday we had classes again till 11.15. That evening Jasper and I participated at the ESN international dinner. Also our Swedish girlfriend was there. First we went to the Rio parque to make a nice walk. We had to come to a restaurant called Diaz. On first sight it seemed to be a crappy bar were you can drink beers and watch football. There was a little room behind the bar were we could eat. I got number 3 which meant that I could take a seat at table number 3. Jasper was number 1. We had a great evening, the food was sooo nice, we met very nice people and I spoke some English and some Spanish and nobody believed that I just have had 4 weeks of Spanish classes. We did some toast in every language and also we did a very nice game. You know the game that you have to say a phrase in your neighbours ear and so on the whole table and that the last person had to say the phrase again? We did in everybody’s language so a Dutch phrase, a Spanish, a Finnish a French and a German one. So funny what people hear when they don’t understand the phrase. Also we got a lot of sangria so we weren’t that sober anymore. After the dinner we stayed talking outside with the very nice ESN people.

Tuesday we went only to our class from half past 12 since the class from 9am was too early. (We came at home at 2.30 am) When we came home again we both slept for three hours more.

Wednesday we had only classes till 10 am. That night we had a dinner in the Retiro park with 4 German friends and two Dutch friends. It was really nice. We ate for four hours, French bread, chips, cookies and pasta salad and we talked a lot.

Thursday I have always my ‘heaviest’ day. I have classes from 9 till 12.30. It is still a bit strange to me how they teach in here. I guess you all have ever seen an online test of every chapter which is made by the publisher of your book. A test you can make a day before you have your exam to check if you understood the book well. We had to make this test in class. First we had to share ourselves in groups of three or four people. Than we had to write down our 20 answers ( a,b,c,d). After this we checked all our answers class, so the teacher said question one and then the whole class had to say simultaneously and really loud the asnwer. In Tilburg we never have classes like this. In some way I don't care about the fact we do it in this way because now you can learn in class and you don't have to learn it all just the week before your final exam.

This night we went to the Enbabia were we could drink 2 hours limited less beer and sangria. We thought it was a very good deal. Once we were in we saw it wasn’t because there were just 3 barkeepers who were slower than a slag. Then we went with our group outside at 12 o clock because there they had flyers for free entrance + one free drink till 01.30h for Kapital where normally only entrance is already 15 euros and a beer for 16 euros. We went immediately to the Kapital where we saw a line of 500 meter. We didn’t got in so we went to the moonlight because a proper offered us free entrance + a free drink. This was the dirtiest shot in my life and we didn't liked the atmosphere so we went out after this drink to sol to get a beer from the beer sellers over here and bought a piece of pizza. Despite the disappointment of not getting in the Kapital we had a nice evening with our friends.

Friday we slept till 1 pm. After our breakfast we went to the Rio beach with Marlies and Merel our Dutch friends over here. The rest of the group had classes. We ate grapes, enjoyed the water play garden and played some cart games. It was a nice day.

Yesterday we went to Cercedilla where we had a hike with ESN. Really beautiful and really steep mountains so it was really hard to get up with my new victory shoes which weren’t really made for this hike. Although it was better than my flip flops or ballerinas. There was no more space in my suitcase for sport shoes. It was a really nice hike with beautiful view on the top of the mountain.

Today I have to learn for my two test I will have tomorrow…
