Last days before christmas.

It is Friday the 16th of December. We were just back from Porto, in one week we will go back to the Netherlands for Christmas. Tuesday we will have our first final exam and I still have to start learning so today I start thinking about how I would do that. The teacher didn’t post the slides online and we didn’t bought the book. He posted some study questions online so I started to answer those questions to learn the exam a bit.

Saturday I went to the city with Jasper, I could walk in a t- shirt because it was sunny and warm. We both wanted to buy a present for our granny so we bought some mats with signs of Madrid on it. That night we would have a dinner with all of our exchange friends. It took us some time to decide where to go to since no restaurant would accept a group of 13 people and not everybody liked the idea to got to a pizza restaurant. Finally somebody knew a new restaurant where we could go to. When we came there it was immediately clear that it was a very very expensive restaurant. The service was terrible ! I only took a starter since this was already 10 euros. I got my starter very fast but it was only a bit of smoked salmon and a bit of avocado. It was very tasteless. After TWO hours the last one at our table got her dish. We were finally with 11 people and there were only two other tables with 4 persons in de restaurant. It was absolutely ridiculous how bad the service was. Too bad.

Sunday we had to study as well as Monday. Tuesday at 9 we had our first exam , Human recourse management. I didn’t know what to expect so I was a bit nervous. When I got my exam I thought the teacher made a fault. The time for the exam was 2,5 hours but I only needed 30 minutes but who needs more time for just 3 questions ??! I didn’t complain , I could answered the questions and it was really easy but this wasn’t what I expected from a final exam for a fourth year course. The three questions where moreover from the list of the study questions which he had posted online. If all my exams are going to be like this I love exams here.

That night our Spanish friends came to have dinner with us. Everybody made a Spanish tapas. Jasper and I made a dutch tapas, pancakes. We also had a special gast, the boyfriend of one of our Spanish friend had had his exchange at Tilburg University and he also came to us. This was very nice. We could ask him all about his experience at Tilburg and he loved it. He loved all the parties which were organised so well. We recognised all the things he liked. The sameds, the frikandel, the oliebollen and of course a beercantus. It was a great dinner.

Wednesday I was packaging my last things for Christmas. I was very looking forward to go home and see my family and dog again. Next time I will tell you about my ‘holiday’ in the Netherlands.

  1. Hey! It is fun to read the experience of someone else who is studying in the same city, I recognize a lot! Usually, I think the dinners are great, but sometimes... ;) Enjoy your last weeks in Madrid!
