Monday we had our last classes of strategic management and organisational economics. I was really sick so didn’t went to class. Jasper , went and came back with really bad news, the teacher of organisation economics had the great idea to give another test in the last class on Thursday but then we are in Porto so we will get a zero. The teacher wouldn’t make an exception for us and so we couldn’t make it on another day. So frustrating because all my effort in this course to get really high grades was worth nothing now. This zero will lower my average grade very badly.
Tuesday was the last day of classes, the teacher of human recourse management posted a message on the door he would be half an hour later in class, Since classes are just 60 minutes I wouldn’t waiting for 30 minutes for at most 30 minutes of class so I went to the library to print my boarding passes for tomorrow.
Wednesday we had to wake up at 6.30 am , really early because our flight was leaving at 9.15. At 9.30 we arrived in Porto since the time difference. We took the metro to our hostel we already found on internet. I immediately noticed how poor this country is. The houses were small and covered with corrugated iron and the houses were so deteriorated. We were at our hostel in half an hour and instead of the 40 euros we had to pay in all Spanish cities we now only had to pay 25 euros for the room.
Then we went to the old book store where one of the scenes of Harry Potter was shot. There was a very strange but beautiful stair inside and it was cool too see. Then we went to a church and the river. There are a lot of really small streets. It was a bit rainy and also quite. I think this was because it is not the summer season anymore.
We went to the mac Donald’s to have a nice cheeseburger and then we went shopping. Also this is much cheaper in Porto. I bought a nice jacket for 45 euros what cost you 60 euros in the Netherlands. ( this is by the way also in Spain). Then we went to the hostel because we were so exhausted of the early flight and because the streets are very steep we had to climb a lot. After a sleep of 4 hours we went out for dinner. We hoped to see a lot of lights and a nice atmosphere. Too bad there was almost nobody on the streets, most of the restaurants were closed so our “dinner” was a very cosy dinner in the…Mac donalds not really what we had hoped for.
The next they we had breakfast in a bar again where we got something like a coconut cookie.
We went shopping a bit more and had a lunch again at the Mac Donald’s. Really I cannot see a mac Donald’s any more after those days. At 14 pm we took the metro to the airport and had our flight back to Madrid.
It were to nice days but I think Porto is nicer to see in summer because now the city was a bit dead.
