Sunday 11 December. Me and my friends decided to go out for dinner as a last goodbye. Christina is the first one to leave on Friday and Carol will leave on Saturday and won’t come back in January for the exams. At first we wanted to have the dinner last Friday. However, the restaurant was fully booked so we decided to book for Sunday at 8 for 8 at Mother India in the West End. On Sunday afternoon the first girl cancelled on us, cause she has 4 tests this week. A few minutes later the second girl cancelled for the same reason. This was all understandable. However we were a bit disappointed when Chelsea cancelled on us. She met a Scottish guy here in the first weeks and we hardly see her. But we kind off expected her to cancel since we had dinner with her on Friday. So then we were with 5...
We started walking around 7.15 through the freezing weather to the subway (Yes they call it subway here instead of underground. A bit confusing with the subway sandwich chain on every corner.) When we reached the subway the gate was closed! Apparently the subway closes on Sunday evening! How is that possible in a city of 2 million people?! Next option, a cab. We were with 5, this is a nice number, because the city cabs can take up to 5 people (some bigger cabs can take 6). We walked towards Buchanan Galleries, because normally there are a few cabs. Well, not in Sunday... Even near the cinema and the bus station there were hardly any cabs. We decided to call a private cab. After 5 minutes the ‘white skoda octavia’ arrived. Then I suddenly realized, we were with 5! A private cab can only take 4! Carol and Christina decided to take the cab and save our reservation since it was already 8. Me, Julia and Livia got a city cab only a few minutes later. The cab driver knew the restaurant so he dropped us off in front of it. Little did we know that we had to go to the other Mother India in West End! So we walked for 10 minutes until we reached the Dining Inn from Mother India. The place was pretty small but we had a private corner. The Menu was entirely in Hindi so we asked the waiter a dozen of questions. Finally we decided to take almost everything and share. The food was amazing and pretty cheap, we all paid 10 pounds! After we finished we even ordered some more naan bread to soak up the juices! We were so stuffed that we decided to walk back. Not a very wise decision since it took us over an hour to get back to the flat! But we got to see a big part of Glasgow on a Sunday evening.
Finally back at the flat we made some tea and had cookies with icecream. Our daily dessert! I think we all gained weight in these few months, cause of all the pasta, icecream, pints of lager and cider, vodka lemonade, jagerbombs, tequila shots, cocktails, pizzanights, going out for dinner, eating fish and chips after going out, hardly going to the gym, etc...
Tonight will be our last International Wednesday! First we go to November, a pub in the shopping mall Princess Square and afterwards we go to Common till 4am (Normally the clubs are open till 3am but since it’s the last international party it’s an hour longer open!). We’re already discussing an afterparty at Benjamin’s flat. It’s probably best for me not to sleep this night since tomorrow we have to register for two tutorials of my home University at 8am (9am Dutch time). Monday I’m flying home for 2 weeks and then I have my exams!
See you next time!
Cheers!
