It was already Monday the 21st of November, because the teacher talked again too long and we had also 2 presentations, so the second part of the review test was again moved. A bit annoying since now I have to learn it for the third time and I was already so nervous for it.
It is almost Sinterklaas so I decided that Jasper may “put his shoe” in front of the heater and told him that when he would sing out loud some Sinterklaas songs he would probably get some presents. The next day he found two little presents in his shoe. How exiting, Sinterklaas came all over back from the Netherlands to his homecity.
Jasper and I really wanted to make some more trips before leaving Madrid so we decided to go to Porto. We asked the mother of Jasper to book the flight since we don’t have a visa card. ( It might be a good idea to have one before leaving on exchange since a Dutch bank card isn’t always accepted like in the supermarket and restaurants) We were very surprised when she told us this flights are our presents for Sinterklaas. The 13th and 14th of December we are in Portugal.
Wednesday we went to a tapas restaurant with some of our exchange friends. It was really nice and we ordered several plates with delicious tapas. Some potatoes with an egg on top, bread with onion and bread with salmon, bread with chicken and patatas bravas. Black bolls with a filling of squid. After we all got a drop. It was a very nice evening ! some of us went out and I really wanted to go out too but unfortunately I had to wake up the next morning at 7.
Thursday we finally had the second part of the review test and we had the presentation with our group about the Goldman Sachs project. The test went really well! Then I had the presentation , I was so nervous since this was not only my first presentation in my University career, but also my first presentation in English.( except for the little presentation of Strategic but therefore we don’t get a grade) I had to do the biggest part, the analysis, but I was really happy with the result. After class the teacher gave us some comments, he thought the presentation was really good if the audience was a group of finance experts. He thought our analysis was very good but we explained it too difficult in class. I can live with such a comment.
At 19.30 Jasper and I were at the Airport again because the parents of Jasper were arriving. It was really nice to see them and we went out for dinner at Lateral. Again we had several plates of delicious tapas. Lateral is known for its extra ordinary tapas. The tastes and kind of tapas are a bit different there and the atmosphere is really good. It is always crowded so if you are once in Madrid, go to Lateral .
The next day we walked through the city to show them the hotspots of Madrid. After a drink on the terrace we went home to do a bit of homework. That night we made pancakes at their apartment and talked a lot about our experiences.
Saturday we went to the Retiro park, since Thursday the weather is changed, the last weeks it had been raining a lot but now it was 23 degrees and really sunny already for three days. It was thanks giving so our English flat mate Rob organised a party at our home. We already promised the parents of Jasper to have dinner over there but we were a bit fed up because the thanks giving party seemed to be very fun. Luckily there was some food left when we came home so I could try the pumpkin pie. This is really delicious. There were a lot of people invited and it was a lot of fun.
Sunday Jasper and I stayed at home since we still had to do some homework. The parents of Jasper survived there is a lot more to do in Madrid then we found out until now. The museums which we thought were expensive and boring were actually very fun and free. So we still can do some things here. That night we went out for dinner again to a very special pizza restaurant. The pizzas are very different from the pizzas you normally get, smaller but a lot of stuff on top and you can get there for example a pizza with asperses or spinach. It was a nice evening again.
